KUALA TERENGGANU: Twenty-seven National Service (NS)
trainees at the Cenderawasih Cador camp in Pengkalan Berangan, Marang, have
been arrested over a fight involving two groups after a misunderstanding.
Terengganu CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said the fight took
place after one group of trainees accused another of breaking their lockers and
stealing their belongings.
He said a group of 27 trainees, some of them armed with
sticks, went after nine trainees over the allegation at about 3pm on Saturday
and a fight ensued.
Nine trainees suffered injuries and bruises in the attack,
Manoharan said yesterday.
He said 27 trainees were arrested in a crackdown after a
police report was lodged.
They have been remanded for four days from yesterday and the
case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting with
the use of weapons. - Bernama
